Thank God It's Friday!
It's almost a tradition for my family and most Filipinos to eat sauted mung beans (munggo) every friday.
Today I'll show you how my grandma cooks this soupy dish when we were kids.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup mung (munggo) beans
- Pork belly
- Prawns
- Spinach or Ampalaya leaves
- Minced Onion and Garlic
- Special Chicken Oil (Recipe here)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Fish Sauce (Patis)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Boil the beans
Prepare your meat and vegetables
Saute the pork in high heat using our special chicken oil
Cook until its brown and has sears the add a dash of fish sauce
Add the garlic and onions - stir fry for 1 minute
Then the tomatoes - stir fry until soft
Season with Salt, Pepper and Patis (Fish Sauce)
And the prawns
Stir fry for 1 minute
Add water
Add your vegetables of choice
Simmer for a minute then turn off heat and serve with hot rice! Yummy!
